Foals x Brompton

Foals drummer Jack Bevan has teamed up with the UK’s largest bike manufacturer Brompton, to produce a unique bike. The bike is set to be available to win through a prize draw, with the proceeds going to the Mental Health Foundation. To be in with a chance of winning this very special prize, fans can buy tickets for a Crowdfunder prize draw HERE. Tickets are priced at £5 for one ticket, £10 for three tickets and £20 for eight tickets. The draw remains live until August 25th, when a winner will be drawn at random.
Jack has been a long-time fan of the iconic folding bike brand, frequently travelling with his own personal Brompton when on tour and uses it to get out and explore more of the cities that the band finds themselves in for gigs.
Built using one of Brompton’s C Line frames, the design of the bike is directly in tune with the spirit and style of their new record: Life is Yours. Working closely with the band and its designer, Brompton has taken elements from their album artwork and incorporated them onto the glossy white frameset. The various elements lend themselves really well to the frame, with glorious flashes of pink throughout. With his first-hand knowledge of Brompton bikes and with a keen eye for detail, Jack also picked out some of the additional components, such as the Brooks Cambium Saddle and grips, along with the striking Schwalbe tan wall tyres, creating an overall look which is sure to be an instant hit.
This is not the first time that Brompton has collaborated with artists in the music industry. Last year they worked with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Radiohead, Phoebe Bridgers and Rise Against to create bespoke bikes to be auctioned off in support of Crew Nation, a global relief fund launched by Live Nation to support live music crews affected by COVID-19. In total the venture raised an incredible $140,000.

‘’“I’m so pleased that we have collaborated with Brompton on a one-off Foals bike for the Mental Health Foundation. I have been riding a Brompton for years and I love their bikes so it’s been very cool to make something unique with them, especially when we can raise money for a very good cause.”
Andrew Finkill, Product Development Manager at Brompton said:
“At Brompton we’re all really into music so when Jack reached out to tell us how much he loves using his bike on tour we were gassed and we thought it would be cool to come up with something special to celebrate the band’s new album, ‘Life is Yours’.
We started sharing ideas with Jack and came up with the beautiful imagery based on the album artwork and used the latest painting techniques to build this one-off, custom designed bike – still hand built in our London factory, of course. A true collaboration that will raise money for a very worthy cause.”
Annie Hall, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Mental Health Foundation said:,
“We know music is good for the soul and short bursts of exercise can help improve our mental alertness, energy, and mood. We also know that getting together is good for mental health, so we are thrilled to partner with Brompton and Foals drummer Jack Bevan to raise vital funds for the Mental Health Foundation. We would like to thank them for creating a special, custom designed bike to help highlight that physical activity has a huge potential to enhance our wellbeing. It also plays a role in preventing the development of mental health problems and in improving the quality of life for people experiencing poor mental health.
Every week, one in six adults experiences a common mental health problem, such as anxiety or depression and one in five adults has considered taking their own life at some point. Partnering with Jack and Brompton on this great campaign will enable us to continue to our work towards a world with good mental health for all.’’
